PCAARRD holds 2nd Technology Pitch Day

The Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD), through its Technology Transfer and Promotion Division (TTPD), will hold the 2nd DOST-PCAARRD Technology Pitch Day on May 31, 2019 at the DOST-PCAARRD Innovation and Technology Center (DPITC) in Los Baños, Laguna.

The activity is part of the ongoing program titled, “Developing the Intellectual Property and Technology Business Management (IP-TBM) Operations in Consortia Member Agencies-Batch 2.” It involves 16 state universities and colleges (SUCs) and research and development institutes (RDIs) with the Forest Products Research and Development Institute (FPRDI) as the lead implementing agency.

The program is one of the key initiatives of PCAARRD to enhance the management and commercialization of technologies in the agriculture, aquatic and natural resources (AANR) sector. PCAARRD partnered with SUCs and RDIs to capacitate their technology transfer offices/divisions and technology transfer officers. It will enable the agencies to protect their own IPs as well as sustain and enhance their operations.

From January to May, they have undergone the DOST-PCAARRD Technology Commercialization Mentorship Series. It consisted of six modules that covered the following areas: Overview of the Agri-Aqua Innovation System; Pre-Commercialization Services; Fairness Opinion Board (FOB) Requirements, IP Valuation, and Technology Transfer Modes; Marketing, Technology Portfolio Preparation, and Pitching; Negotiation and Licensing; and Commercialization.

As a culminating activity, 36 TTOs are set to present their technologies to potential investors, partners, and collaborators. The technologies for pitching are the following:
