Fresh knowledge and new skills in writing publishable scientific journals may be what is needed to cope up with our diminishing number of published scientific articles – and this is what may have been absorbed by the participants, if not, the confidence.

The researchers and project leaders of the PCARRD S&T Anchor Program (STAP) for Banana assessed the program progress and performance during the annual program review and planning held last 26-27 June 2007 in Los Baños, Laguna.

The Philippine Extension Network (PEN), Inc. will hold the 2nd national symposium on Agriculture, Fisheries, Forestry and Natural Resources (AFFNR) Extension on February 8-9 at the Heritage Hotel Manila.

To continually fulfill its mandate in resource generation, and strengthen ties with partner institutions engaged in science and technology, PCARRD, led by its Executive Director Dr. Patricio Faylon together with Director for Planning and Development Dr. Leah Buendia made a five-day visit at the International Technical Cooperation Center – Rural Development Administration (ITCC-RDA) in Suwon, South Korea last January 15-19. 

Banga, Aklan – Fifty-four student-journalists and faculty members from three state universities and colleges trooped to the Aklan State University (ASU) to participate in PCARRD’s “Saka Iskwela: Responsible campus journalism towards agricultural productivity” training.

For 2007, PCARRD’s Techno Gabay Program (TGP) kicked off with the launching of a Farmers’ Information and Technology Services (FITS) Center Social Action Center-Northern Quezon (SAC-NQ) in Gen. Nakar, Quezon on January 12. The launch was in collaboration with the Southern Tagalog Agriculture and Resources Research and Development Consortium (STARRDEC).

Enhanced information services on agricultural mechanization. This is one of the objectives that the PCARRD technical working group (TWG) on Agricultural Machinery Information Network (AgMachIN) has been working on for the past three years.
The Techno Gabay Program (TGP) extends more of its information and technology services capabilities nationwide as it welcomed 19 more Farmers’ Information and Technology Services (FITS) or Techno Pinoy centers from the heart of the Visayas--- ““Republic of Bohol” last October 4-5.

Improving the productivity of agricultural systems in the Asia-Pacific is a continuous effort. To contribute to the discussion and share its strategic efforts along this aspect, PCARRD participated in the Expert Consultation on Agricultural Research Networks and Consortia in Asia-Pacific and Asia Pacific Association of Agricultural Research Institutions (APAARI) Mid-Term Executive Meeting last October 8-10 at the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT),
